The Gaudry family has been producing estate-bottled Pouilly-Fume for generations. Vineyard Brands has purchased their wines for many years, from Georges Gaudry until 1975, and now from his son, Denis.
The estate is one of the finest in the region of Pouilly-sur-Loire, with more than 46 acres of Sauvignon Blanc. The vines now average about twenty years of age, although nearly five acres are legitimately "vieilles vignes" of forty years or more. The domaine as a whole yields about 60 hectoliters per hectare.
M. Gaudry produces a wine which is considerably more substantial and longer-lived than is typical of the region, often requiring a year or two of cellaring before it develops a depth of fruit and breadth of flavor unusual in the appellation.
